Free to Smile: A Photo Project by Kristina Rodriquez

As a mother, I want to raise my son to appreciate the traits that make each person an individual. I don’t want him to base his identity on the fact that he was born with a cleft lip. It’s only one of the countless factors that will teach him and shape his character.

As a photographer, I want to give families and individuals, a reason to smile.
I’d like to offer a gift to those who have experienced what it means to have a cleft, or craniofacial difference, a chance to celebrate their victories.
I want to give families a chance to see that the road ahead of them can and will be filled with smiles. They will know that they are not alone.
Free to Smile endeavors to create free portraits for families with craniofacial differences.
